Launch of The Federal Government Program Investing R$ 2 Billion in MPMEs Over The Next 4 Years. Productivity Platform, Consulting and Professional Courses, Innovation, Sustainability, and Energy Efficiency.

The Brazil More Productive program is launching the Productivity Platform to boost the productivity of Brazilian micro and small industries. With over R$ 2 billion allocated to the program, companies will have free access to management diagnosis and strategy, consulting, and professional courses in lean manufacturing or energy efficiency. The goal is to engage up to 200,000 companies through the platform and to directly and in-person serve over 93,000 until 2027 in a productivity journey neoindustrialization and digital transformation.

With the New Brazil More Productive, companies will have the opportunity to leverage their productivity and undergo digital transformation. The initiative aims to promote competitiveness in the industrial sector and boost the country’s economic growth by providing resources and guidance for company modernization. The productivity platform is a unique opportunity for micro and small industries to accelerate their growth and stand out in the market.

Brazil More Productive: Cooperation Among Agencies

Launched in November last year, the new phase of the program is coordinated by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) in an unprecedented partnership with the National Service for Industrial Learning (SENAI), the Support Service for Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae), the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI), the Financing Agency for Studies and Projects (Finep), the Brazilian Company of Industrial Innovation (Embrapii), and the National Bank for Economic Development (BNDES).

The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, emphasized the need for small industries to become more competitive. ‘The world will have to decarbonize and Brazil is the main player in numerous technological routes. We will have an important opportunity to reindustrialize’, he commented.

‘We will strive as quickly as possible to ensure that small businesses have more opportunities, generate wealth and jobs for our country’, he added.

Productivity Platform: A Unique Opportunity

‘We are bringing together two stars, Sebrae and SENAI, to either go to the company or through the digital platform to make the correct diagnosis, identify the bottleneck, see where there can be a leap in productivity’, emphasized Alckmin, explaining that increasing productivity is one of the focuses of neoindustrialization, alongside decarbonization, innovation, and export.

For the General Director of SENAI, Gustavo Leal, the program and the Productivity Platform represent an opportunity for Brazilian industrial MPEs to become more competitive.

‘This program is multifaceted, ranging from digitalization to professional retraining. It is a program with unique features and scale. It is important to recognize how bold the ministry has been in creating this program, in addition to the teamwork that will be able to make a big difference for the economy’, highlighted Leal.

In turn, the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Micro and Small Enterprises, Márcio França, highlighted that the platform will be an opportunity to attract the confidence of millions of companies that are in the informal economy. ‘The initiative to create the platform must come integrated, unified, in a few words, with the goal of supporting these people. And Sebrae has this ease. It is the door that people trust. The jobs we need are right here’, he stated.

‘Neoindustrialization is a historic landmark to say that Brazil is a developed country, sovereign and capable of addressing the social gaps in our country’, emphasized the president of Sebrae, Décio Lima. ‘For the first time, we are in synergy with essential agencies for building this imperative process for the Brazilian economy, which will bring innovation, sustainability, and inclusiveness‘, he concluded.

The president of ABDI, Cecilia Vergara, reinforced that the launch of the platform marks a very important day for Brazil More Productive. ‘For ABDI, it is an honor to participate in this initiative and be responsible for the operational management of the program. Our team continues to work to establish Brazil More Productive as the largest and most impactful productivity increase program in the country, aimed at micro, small, and medium enterprises. I am confident that we are on the right track’, she said.

‘The More Production Plan seeks to pave the way for a more innovative and digital industry, greener, more export-oriented, and more productive. The New Brazil More Productive is an essential pillar of the national neoindustrialization strategy, through the digitalization of basic processes and the introduction of new technologies focused on small businesses’, stated José Luis Gordon, Director of Productive Development, Innovation, and Foreign Trade at BNDES.

‘The platform complements the NIB, an effort by the government and the Brazilian productive sector to increase innovation in companies. Finep is part of this great movement for Brazil’, notes Celso Pansera, president of Finep.

‘Embrapii joins this effort, through the development of technologies suited to the challenges diagnosed on the platform, providing its network of ICTs with expertise in various areas of technological competence, to boost the competitiveness of small businesses in the market’, said Embrapii president, Chico Saboya.

Brazil More Productive: Contribution to The New Industry Brazil

The New Brazil More Productive is aligned with the guidelines of the new Brazilian industrial policy, launched by the federal government on the last day 22. The New Industry Brazil (NIB) is based on six missions aimed at the country’s growth and improvement of the population’s quality of life. Mission 4, which provides for the digital transformation of the industry to increase productivity, includes investments in Industry 4.0. The goal is to promote a leap in the digitalization of Brazilian industrial companies (currently 23.5% digitalized, to 90%), as well as to triple the participation of national production in new technology segments by 2033.

In addition to the productivity platform, the first modality of the New Brazil More Productive aimed at industrial MPMEs, the program encompasses three other categories.

Focusing on management for all micro and small companies, the second modality will guide up to 50,000 companies, which will also receive continuous support from Local Innovation Agents (ALI) and other Sebrae tools to increase productivity in businesses, along with other sectoral projects of the institution.

The third modality of the program aims to optimize industrial processes for up to 30,000 micro and small industries and up to 3,000 medium industries through consulting in lean manufacturing and energy efficiency and professional improvement from SENAI.

On the other hand, the fourth modality prioritizes digital transformation. In this modality, 360 industrial companies will receive support from SENAI with the development of new technologies. Additionally, 8,400 MPMEs will benefit from solutions developed by technology providers in 4.0 technologies through Smart Factory calls. The fourth modality also aims to serve 1,200 medium-sized companies with a complete digital transformation plan: from the investment project design to implementation follow-up.
