With The Participation Of Enthusiasts, The PTI-CIBiogás Consortium, Winner Of The AHK Rio Project, Aims To Create An Innovative Green Hydrogen System
On March 16, the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Rio de Janeiro (AHK Rio) announced the result of the public call for the Promotion of Innovation of the Green Hydrogen and Power to X Program in Brazil. Formed by the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI) and the International Center for Renewable Energies and Biogas (CIBiogás), the PTI-CIBiogás Consortium was the organization that won.
According to AHK Rio itself, the objective of the Public Call was to select and hire an Accelerator to support AHK Rio’s team in this initiative, using expertise and a network of contacts to promote technology, innovation, and the consolidation of solutions for the production, distribution, and use of Green Hydrogen gas in Brazil, a sector that has been gaining attention from some petrochemical companies. The legitimization of this promising union took place in the surroundings of the Itaipu Technological Park, located in Foz do Iguaçu, Rio Grande do Sul, with the presence of authorities from the companies involved.
As published in a report by Canal Energia, the winning company fully met the technical and financial requirements set by AHK Rio. The PTI-CIBiogás Consortium stood out from other companies due to the composition of its technical team and portfolio of plans aimed at renewable energies, as well as its experience in accelerating entrepreneurship and innovation solutions.

Green Hydrogen, which is obtained from clean energy sources, is one of the most important alternatives for reducing greenhouse gases (also known as GHG) from the global energy matrix, and it is starting to appear in the national territory as well. The main aim of the Green Hydrogen and Power to X Program in Brazil is to strengthen the Brazilian Ecosystem of Research, Development, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship to contribute to the development of Green Hydrogen in the country, which has already been the target of misleading advertisements.
The institutions were chosen to carry out a Green Hydrogen Innovation Program, focusing on decarbonization and energy transition, where researchers can submit proposals and projects on the subject. Thus, they are tasked with developing and implementing the ideation and acceleration project for Enthusiasts, leading calls for R&D organizations and universities, as well as organizing and conducting events within the project, whether online or in person.
According to Jornal Dia Dia, General Eduardo Garrido, Superintendent Director of PTI, says that with this project, a new step is taken for Green Hydrogen to gain ground in the national context. “The Park, as a Science and Technology Institution, develops research and innovation in various fronts. Now, connected to the topic of hydrogen, where we have been operating solidly for over 10 years, we will unite our other purpose, which is business generation, supporting the startup market by encouraging new projects related to this theme,” Garrido said.
According to the general, by participating in the Innovation Program in Green Hydrogen, the PTI-CIBiogás Consortium plans to strategically create a hydrogen gas network to establish Brazil as a leading country in global Green Hydrogen research. The director also emphasizes that the two issues raised in the AHK Rio public call, energy transition and decarbonization, are addressed by PTI.
Participation in The Innovation Program
Registration for this project is open and directed at people interested in innovations and wishing to venture into the Green Hydrogen sector. To participate, it is not necessary to have an already finalized startup or project.
