Chinese Model Arrives With Modern Look, Range of Up to 405 km, Cutting-Edge Connectivity, and Price Below Popular Cars, Intensifying the Competition Among Compact Urban Electric Vehicles.

The Chinese automaker Chery announced the launch of the QQ Domi, a new urban electric car that promises to be one of the most affordable on the Asian market.

The compact model will be sold exclusively in China with prices ranging from 59,900 to 69,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately R$ 46 thousand and R$ 54 thousand.

The brand also revealed an even cheaper version, starting at 54,900 yuan (around R$ 42 thousand), reinforcing its strategy to popularize entry-level electric vehicles.

The QQ Domi is available in two versions: one with 305 km and another with 405 km of range, according to the Chinese CLTC cycle.

The model is equipped with a front electric motor of 40 kW (54 hp) and torque of 11.2 kgfm.

The top speed is 100 km/h, highlighting that the car was designed for urban use.

QQ Domi: Compact Electric Vehicle Focused on Urban Mobility

With compact dimensions — 3.72 meters long, 1.70 m wide, 1.60 m high, and a wheelbase of 2.52 m — the vehicle is classified as a hatchback and accommodates up to five occupants.

Its size is comparable to the Renault Kwid E-Tech and the BYD Dolphin Mini, two models that are already in the Brazilian market at much higher prices.

The QQ Domi features rounded lines, LED headlights with projector lenses, a trapezoidal lower grille, and flush door handles.

The darkened C-pillar gives a floating roof appearance.

At the rear, the taillights are connected by a black trim, an element reminiscent of the BYD Dolphin’s design.

The color options include white, blue, silver, and pink.

Tech Interior and Optimized Space

Inside, the car offers a simple finish focused on functionality.

The instrument panel is 7 inches digital, and there is a 10.25 inches floating multimedia center.

Equipment includes voice commands, keyless entry, button start, car control via app, and split rear seats in a 40/60 configuration.

The gear selector, located on the steering column, frees up space in the central console.

The front seats have integrated headrests, while the rear seats optimize space for passengers.

Chery’s QQ Domi and Range and Fast Charging with LFP Technology

The batteries are of the lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) type.

The basic version has a capacity of 28.5 kWh, while the more advanced one has 39.33 kWh, ensuring ranges of 305 km and 405 km, respectively.

Both offer fast charging, with an estimated time of 30 minutes to go from 30% to 80% of charge.

The top version also features the VTOL (vehicle-to-load) function, which allows powering external devices using the car’s own energy — ideal for emergency situations or recreational use.

Chery Also Upgrades Little Ant and Ice Cream Models

During the launch event, Chery presented other innovations aimed at the entry-level electric segment.

One of them is the Little Ant “Love Edition”, a more affordable configuration sold for 54,900 yuan (R$ 42 thousand).

Despite being simpler, it retains the 10.4 inches central screen, but loses the electronic parking brake and seats with synthetic material.

Another highlight is the QQ Ice Cream “Vitality Edition”, a subcompact electric vehicle with 205 km of range (NEDC cycle), sold for just 39,900 yuan (around R$ 30 thousand).

Fast charging is also available, increasing charge from 30% to 80% in about 33 minutes.

The model bets on youthful design and extensive connectivity, targeting a young audience.

Intense Competition Among Urban Electric Vehicles in China

The QQ Domi enters the market to compete with models such as the BYD Dolphin Mini, starting at 69,800 yuan (R$ 54 thousand), and the Leapmotor T03, which has the same price as the basic version of the QQ Domi: 59,900 yuan (R$ 46 thousand).

All focus on the urban market and the audience seeking affordable and efficient electric cars.

In China, this segment is highly competitive, driven by government incentives, expansion of the charging network, and a localized supply chain.

Automakers are increasingly investing in aggressive pricing, reasonable range, and connectivity, creating a showcase of innovation in accessible mobility.

The Future of Chery’s QQ Domi is Uncertain Outside China

Although Chery has a presence in Brazil through Caoa Chery, there is no confirmation that the QQ Domi will be exported.

Experts consider its arrival unlikely at this time due to technical and regulatory requirements in foreign markets, in addition to the need for local production to keep costs low.

Despite this, Brazil has shown interest in affordable electric models.

The Dolphin Mini and the Kwid E-Tech have attracted attention, even with prices above R$ 100 thousand.

The arrival of cheaper models depends on trade agreements, incentives, and infrastructure.

With China advancing in the offering of electric cars priced lower than popular combustion models, will Brazil also have affordable cars in the coming years?
