Bracell Announces New Pulp Factory in Bataguassu (MS), with Investment of US$ 4 Billion and Expected to Generate 13 Thousand Jobs. Construction Starts in February 2026, Strengthening the Local Economy and Sustainability.

Bracell, one of the global leaders in dissolving pulp production, will build a new factory in Bataguassu, Mato Grosso do Sul. According to Governor Eduardo Riedel’s forecast, construction is set to begin in February 2026. The facility will require an investment of approximately US$ 4 billion and will have the capacity to produce up to 2.8 million tons of pulp per year.

The project promises to generate about 13 thousand direct jobs, with 10 thousand during construction and 3 thousand in the operational phase.

Bracell Strengthens Presence in the “Pulp Valley”

With this new facility, Bracell will consolidate its position in Mato Grosso do Sul, a state that already has four factories in operation and two more under construction.

Bataguassu, located about 15 km from the urban perimeter, was strategically chosen to host the state’s sixth pulp plant, reinforcing Mato Grosso do Sul’s title as the “Pulp Valley.”

The state accounts for 24% of the national pulp production and ranks second in eucalyptus cultivation area, in addition to leading the production of roundwood for paper and pulp.

Billion-Dollar Investment and Job Creation

The investment of US$ 4 billion in Bracell’s new pulp factory in Bataguassu stands out as one of the largest recent industrial contributions in the state.

In addition to the significant creation of direct jobs, the project also promises to boost the local economy through indirect hiring and commerce and services activity.

Environmental Licensing and Construction Schedule

The environmental licensing process for the new facility is underway, with an expected completion date by February 2026.

The Mato Grosso do Sul Environmental Institute (Imasul) called a public hearing to present the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the plant, which will be built about 9 km from the urban area of Bataguassu.

The logistics for product transportation will be carried out by trucks to Aparecida do Taboado, from where transportation will continue by rail to the Port of Santos (SP).

Bracell reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and regional development.

The company already has cultivation areas in Mato Grosso do Sul and aims to plant 50 thousand hectares of eucalyptus in the regions of Água Clara, Três Lagoas, and Campo Grande.

Additionally, Bracell has partnered with the Federal Government and Florestar SP to promote the socioeconomic inclusion of people registered in the Unified Cadastre (CadÚnico), offering positions for drivers, machine operators, and service assistants.

The construction of Bracell’s new pulp factory in Bataguassu represents a milestone in Mato Grosso do Sul’s industrial sector, consolidating the state as one of the largest pulp production hubs in the country and boosting its regional economy.
