With The Aim Of Promoting Diversity, GFT Opened Internship Positions And Aims To Empower Women In The Technology Field Through The GFT Start Woman Java Program

GFT, a consulting firm focused on technological solutions, has 300 exclusive internship positions for cis and trans women. The company plans to expand its female team by 30%, hiring professionals for the technology area through the GFT Start Woman Java program.

The GFT Start Woman Java program seeks to empower women through leadership development, professional growth, networking events for technology professionals, and mentorship.

The program is in partnership with DIO, which aims to professionalize these women, in addition to enhancing their knowledge in various technology fronts, so that they become increasingly competitive.

GFT’s initiative aims to expand women’s participation in the technology field, which is predominantly male-dominated. According to Fernanda Rodrigues, human resources director in Latin America, “Today, in addition to development and quality of life, employees remain in companies when they feel they identify with the culture and values of the organization, and we value that a lot. We continue to focus on job and opportunity creation.”

The aim of offering the bootcamp and hiring women for the internship positions in the technology area is just one of GFT’s initiatives to directly impact the training and professional experience of the hired women.

GFT Offers Exchange Program To Its Employees

In addition to the internship positions, GFT offers its employees a free exchange program in the United States to study the English language, in order to attract and retain specialized talent in the technology field, which is currently the most sought-after labor force in the market.

In the exchange program offered by GFT, travel expenses, the English course, accommodation, and meals are covered. Employees continue to receive their salary even though they work reduced hours to balance the English course and their job. The exchanges last two months, ensuring a continuous rotation of people being sent abroad from Brazil.

The shortage of labor in the technology field and the high demand from clients both domestically and internationally have driven the sector to pursue innovations in people management and benefits. GFT’s management seeks to stay ahead of employees’ desires.

According to the executive, six employees were lost in just one month to hires in other countries. This April, GFT reached the milestone of 3,000 employees in Brazil. “With what is happening in the market, we concluded that if we do the basics, we will not get anywhere. To attract talent, we offer the opportunity to improve their English skills. To retain them, we ourselves offer international opportunities,” she says.
