Competitiveness of Hydrated Ethanol Prices Is Still Not Good

Even with gasoline prices dropping at the pumps last week, according to ANP, Maurício Muruci from Safras believes that the competitiveness of hydrated ethanol is still not good.

The gap of gasoline to oil reached R$ 0.21 per liter today, informs the survey by Abicom, which brings together fuel importers.

The constant downward movement of distributor prices also reached the gas stations.

In addition to the scenario influenced by oil, which interrupted the increases with the unblocking of the ship in the Suez Canal, the Central-South crop is already offering more ethanol, although officially the cycle starts on April 1.

The technology for producing cellulosic ethanol emerged from a partnership between Shell and the Canadian company Logen, specialized in biotechnology. In the last crop (2019/20), the Piracicaba unit produced 226 liters of ethanol for each ton of dry biomass in Paulínia.
