With New Floating Modules, Parintins Port Terminal Modernizes and Prepares to Welcome Thousands During the Folklore Festival.
With just days until the start of the traditional Folklore Festival of Parintins, the port terminal of the city, located 370 km from Manaus, is undergoing a strategic intervention. Two floating modules are being replaced at the Small Public Port Installation (IP4) of Parintins.
The modernization aims to ensure safety, efficiency, and comfort for both tourists and the local residents, who rely almost exclusively on waterway transportation.
Project Is Executed by the Federal Government With an Investment of R$ 7 Million
The renewal of the structure is an action by the Federal Government through the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor).

The investment of nearly R$ 7 million aims to prepare the Parintins port terminal for the intense movement ahead: over 170,000 tourists are expected between June 22 and 29 during the cultural event that mobilizes the entire region.
During the works, a support barge maintains essential cargo and passenger transport operations.
The intervention began on May 31 and concluded on June 6, ensuring the terminal’s full functionality before the festivities begin.
Terminal Is Vital for the Supply of Parintins and Regional Integration
More than just a tourist reception point, the terminal represents the main entryway for essential supplies for the approximately 102,000 residents of Parintins.
“Our priority is to ensure safety and efficiency in operations, especially in municipalities like Parintins, which primarily rely on waterway transportation to connect and maintain supplies,” said Dino Antunes, National Secretary of Waterways and Navigation.
The terminal’s location on the banks of the Amazon River makes its floating structure even more crucial, as the river level fluctuates throughout the year.
The installation of new modules, manufactured in Manaus, strengthens operational capacity at any time.
Expectation Is for a New Record of Movement in 2025
Movement at the Parintins port terminal continues to grow steadily. In 2024, more than 625,000 passengers used the facility, a jump of 9% compared to 2023.
The volume of cargo also increased by 16.5%, rising from 103,000 to 120,000 tons. And the number of vessels rose by 29%, reaching 5,618.
For 2025, the expectation is even higher.
“Just during the festival week, it is estimated that 40,000 people and 13,000 tons of goods will be transported on more than 250 vessels,” revealed Wilhames Corrêa, the port’s administrative chief.
In total, it is expected to exceed 650,000 passengers and 135,000 tons of cargo, with approximately 7,000 vessels — a growth of 24.5% compared to the previous year.
Floating Terminal Is a Key Piece for Tourism and Logistics
The terminal’s mobile structure is considered essential to maintain operations year-round, regardless of river level fluctuations.
“Now, with the installation of the new modules, the terminal will be even more prepared for the intense flow of vessels and passengers that characterize the Folklore Festival of Parintins, a cultural celebration that boosts the local economy and stimulates tourism in the region,” said Corrêa.
The execution of the project at this moment was strategic, as highlighted by Dino Antunes:
“Ensuring that the terminal is fully operational at this time is essential for Parintins to welcome tourists properly and maintain a regular supply for the local population.”
