Petrobras signed a contract with Keppel, from Singapore, for the shipbuilding of the FPSO P-78 platform in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt

Petrobras announced today (10/05) that it signed a contract with Keppel Shipyard Limited, from Singapore, for the construction of the FPSO P-78 platform, which will be located in the Búzios field, located in the Santos Basin pre-salt layer. The state-owned company informed in a note that the FPSO P-78 could start production in 2024, and the contract with Keppel also foresees serving a local content corresponding to 25%, with services that will be provided in Brazil, through partnerships with companies national or outsourced shipbuilding companies.

Petrobras' FPSO P-78 in the Santos Basin pre-salt

Petrobras said this Monday, in a statement to the market, that it expects the FPSO-type platform (capable of storing and transferring oil) to start operating by 2024. state added that FPSO P-78 will have a daily processing capacity of 180 barrels of oil and 7,2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

The FPSO P-78 project should have 13 interconnected wells, with 6 production wells and 7 injection wells, in the Búzios field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt. Petrobras has listed Búzios exploration as one of its priorities, emphasizing that the site is the largest deepwater oil field in the world and a world-class asset with large reserves, low risk and low mining costs. Currently, the Búzios field, in the pre-salt layer, has four units in operation, responsible for more than 20% of Petrobras' total production.

Contract with Keppel will have services performed by Brazilian shipbuilding

The contract signed between Petrobras and Kippah for the construction of FPSO P-78, in the pre-salt layer, will be in the EPC model (engineering, supply and construction) and foresees 25% of local content, with services to be executed in Brazil, through partnership or subcontracting of companies of the Brazilian shipbuilding. The local content index (national shipbuilding) is a requirement provided for in the public notice and committed to the ANP for the transfer of rights surplus from the Búzios field in the pre-salt layer.

This is the second unit to sign a production contract in Búzios after bidding for the remaining value of the assignment of rights. In February, Petrobras announced a direct contract with SBM Offshore to lease the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré, which will be the largest oil and gas production platform in the country's history, with a capacity for 225 barrels of oil per barrel and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Brazilian shipbuilding – Brasfels Shipyard will carry out work on Teekay's FPSO

The Brasfels shipyard, located in Angra dos Reis, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, awaits the FPSO Piranema Spirit, which belongs to the Altera Infraestrutura consortium (formerly known as Teekay Offshore). The platform will go to the shipyard shipbuilding for modification works and will then sign a contract with Altera and Karoon, from Australia, for the production of the oil field of Neon, in the Santos Basin.

Petrobras demobilized the FPSO Piranema Spirit, installed in Sergipe, in the Piranema field. The Brazilian state-owned company notified Altera Infrastructure of the 2020 date, in accordance with contract procedure that requires ten months' notice.
