Port of Manaus Receives First Cabotage Ship from Norcoast, Facilitating the Logistics Flow of Electronics and Chemical Products, Ensuring Supply in Manaus.
Norcoast begins its operations in Itacoatiara, collaborating with Super Terminals, and has already seen its first cabotage ship dock at the Port of Manaus. The initiative aims to enhance the logistics flow for the transportation of electronics, chemical products, and other essential items. This operation is strategic to ensure that the city of Manaus receives the necessary supply efficiently.
In addition to improving logistics, this cabotage operation also facilitates coastal navigation between different ports in the northern region. These efforts are essential to ensure consistency in the transportation of goods, ensuring that products such as two-wheelers and plastics reach their destination safely and quickly. The arrival of the first cabotage ship marks the start of a new era in cargo movement through Brazilian waters.
Norcoast, a Brazilian company specialized in coastal navigation, started its operations in Itacoatiara this Saturday (21), in collaboration with Super Terminals, a private terminal located in the Industrial Hub of Manaus. This event marks the first arrival of a cabotage ship at the floating pier, an operational solution implemented to mitigate the impacts of drought in the region and, above all, to ensure the continuity of the logistics flow.

New Operations of Norcoast
Norcoast has a fleet of four vessels, each with the capacity to carry 3,500 TEUs – the measurement unit equivalent to a 20-foot container. These ships, dedicated to cabotage, transport cargo such as electronics, two-wheel vehicles, plastics, and chemicals from the Northern Region to various parts of Brazil while ensuring the continuous supply of Manaus. Proudly, the company operates with 100% Brazilian flag and crew on all its vessels.
As a sustainable and economical alternative for cargo transportation, cabotage recorded a 1.59% increase this year, reaching a total movement of 23.19 million tons, according to recent data from the Aquatic Statistical report from the National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ). These numbers highlight how coastal navigation has significantly contributed to the development of the industry locally and nationally.
Evolution and Innovation in Cabotage
‘Our exclusive partnership with Super Terminals results in an even more strategic operation, capable of serving the main ports and metropolitan regions of the country. Our goal is to promote Brazil’s economic development and increase local logistics competitiveness’, says Ricardo Nuno, Operations Director at Norcoast. ‘By relying on efficient and cost-effective solutions, we ensure flexibility and adaptability to the market.’
The structure set up by Super Terminals in the Itacoatiara region required an investment of R$ 45 million, aiming to address the challenges posed by drought and ensure uninterrupted transportation of cargo to Manaus, as well as to ensure the continuity of industrial operations in the State.
Economic Impact and Stability
‘This operation reflects our concern for maintaining the supply of inputs and the flow of local production, ensuring economic stability and preserving jobs in the region. Our partnership with Norcoast not only ensures this stability but also promotes the national cabotage market, which has shown growth in recent years’, concludes Marcello Di Gregorio, director of Super Terminals.
